Carolina Piping And Rigging is located in Bishopville, South Carolina where CP&R owners Don and Tammy Brown also make their home.
Getting an early start in the sheet metal and piping fabrication trade Don went to work for Johnson & McCown at the age of 18. With this foundation he eventually rose to the level of superintendent managing jobs of all sizes and descriptions.
Moving to Eastern Associates in 1996 Don continued to develop his expertise in "High Purity" process piping. While at Eastern he was approached by Watford Industry, a steel fabrication and welding service company in Kingstree, South Carolina to start a new process piping and rigging division there.
Tammy, who worked with Don at Eastern also made the move to Watford Industry picking up welding and crane operator certifications along the way.
After enabling a pattern of sustained growth in the new piping and rigging division at Watford in the 10 years they were there, Don and Tammy decided to strike out on their own and in 2006 Carolina Piping And Rigging was created and headquartered on Calvary Church Road in Bishopville.
Countless businesses have had beginnings where "headquarters" was in fact a kitchen table and in this respect, Carolina Piping And Rigging was no different. But with Don's reputation for "Making It Happen", getting projects completed within budget and often ahead of schedule the company grew quickly. Now CP&R occupies 15,000 square feet of offices, a warehouse and fabrication shop on 30 acres of land across the street from the original headquarters. Don currently holds “Unlimited” contractor licenses for both Mechanical (2P5) and Electrical (EL5) work in the state of South Carolina.
In keeping with the old cliche "Work Hard, Play Hard" Don and Tammy have always been avid sportsmen. The best place to find Don during hunting season is in a tree stand with either rifle or bow, Tammy on the racquetball court terrorizing unsuspecting male players, and they both play golf.
But if you asked them both what is most important in their lives they would say without hesitation or qualification, their daughter Jordan Alexis Brown.
She is 6 years old and wise beyond her years. There is little doubt that with her parent's continued love, support, and involvement in her life, she will grow to be a fine young woman.
